A five-year-old boy has died after being hit by a van in a street in Newcastle. A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the tragedy, which happened yesterday afternoon.
Police were called at 4.50pm to a collision involving a Ford Transit van and a child on Willow Avenue in Fenham, Chronicle Live reports.
The white van was towing a trailer with a digger on it at the time of the collision. Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to hospital where he later died.
