Boris Johnson is expected to announce new coronavirus lockdown restrictions for large parts of England on Monday. The Prime Minister will deliver a speech to MPs where he is anticipated to reveal details of a “tiered” approach to local lockdowns south of the border, reports the Mirror.
Health officials are said to be growing increasingly concerned over the sharp rise in daily coronavirus infections in recent days.
A total of 13,864 people were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK on Friday. More than 1,000 of those were recorded in Scotland.
It has been speculated that pubs and restaurants in some parts of England could see similar restrictions to those introduced in Scotland today..
