The 26-year-old is out of contract at Rodney Parade this summer and the Exiles will be in League Two again next season after losing to Morecambe in the play-off final.
Sheehan turned out 53 times for Newport in all competitions last season, scoring three goals. He was yesterday named in the PFA League Two team of the year, alongside Wanderers duo Ricardo Almeida Santos and Eoin Doyle.
And there is are rumours that Sheehan could become team mates with Doyle and Santos at he University of Bolton Stadium next season.
