BMW driver taken to hospital after 'losing control' and crashing into Conservative club

Lea Gate, in Bolton, was shut for several hours following the smash outside Bradshaw Conservative Club in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2.40am. A man, who firefighters say was the driver of the BMW, was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Pictures from the scene show the damage to the wall of the building, while the BMW was also written off. Engineers from Cadent were also called to the scene after a gas main was ruptured as a result of the crash.
