Beyoncé's visual album Black Is King is now streaming on Disney+. Based on her 2019 project The Lion King: The Gift, Black Is King is a feature-length visual accompaniment written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé.
It features appearances from Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, and Lupita Nyong’o among others. Other directors credited include Emmanuel Adjei, Blitz Bazawule, Pierre Debusschere, Ibra Ake, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jake Nava, and Kwasi Fordjour.
A press release states that Black Is King “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns." Filming locations include New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London, and Belgium.
