Biker fighting for life after horror campervan crash as Scots road closed for nine hours

A motorcyclist is fighting for life in hospital after a horror collision with a campervan in the Highlands. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A87 at Glen Shiel at around 5.20pm on Friday, August 25.A 73-year-old man, who had been riding a Triumph motorcycle, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Medics describe his condition as life threatening.The occupants of the Fiat Doblo camper were checked over by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.The road, which is the main route to the Skye bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, was closed for around nine hours to allow for a full accident probe, before reopening at 3am on Saturday.Investigators are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Neil Macdonald said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash."We are appealing for anyone who witnessed it and who hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch.
