Best first-time buyer homes in Greater Manchester where you won’t pay any stamp duty before April 1

Any first-time buyer who is wanting to get on the property ladder this year would be wise to take advantage of the current stamp duty threshold before the changes come into force on April 1, 2025.

Currently, anyone who is purchasing their first home priced up to the value of £425,000 is exempt from paying stamp duty. But in just a couple of months time, the threshold at which first-time buyers start paying stamp duty will fall from £425,000 to £300,000.

This means that new homeowners have until March 31 to buy a property priced between £300,001 to £500,000 without paying stamp duty, otherwise you will be charged 5 percent of the remaining value.

First-time buyers are now being urged to start the home-buying process sooner rather than later, to avoid being hit with thousands of pounds of additional costs.
