BBC's Deborah James in tears as fundraiser hits £1million as she says 'goodbye'

BBC star launched her fundraiser Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK to raise support for the cause, after revealing she had been moved to hospice care at home.Deborah, 40, was diagnosed with advanced and incurable bowel cancer in 2016.The broadcaster said: “I’m just blown away, I never thought we’d get to that number in 12 hours."She went on to tell The Sun: "It makes me emotional to see the outpouring of love.”Deborah's fund had surpassed his initial target of £250,000 and at the time of publication had over £1.3million in the pot, an eye-watering 528 per cent more than her target.Deborah wrote on her Instagram stories: "I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd be waking up to this total 12 hours later.

I'm actually crying!"Launching the fund on Monday night, Deborah urged her followers to donate to the cause.The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK is one of Deborah's many endeavours to raise money and support for research into bowel cancer.The website reads: "All money raised will be allocated, with the support of CRUK [Cancer Research UK] to funding causes & projects that I really care about."Deborah was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2016 and has spent the past five years trying to raise awareness for the disease.The 40-year-old wrote in a heartbreaking post on Instagram: "I always knew there was one thing I always wanted to do before I died.“I have always over the years raised as much awareness and money for the charities that are closest to me. @cr_uk @royalmarsden @bowelcanceruk“As a result, the @bowelbabefund is being established and I’d love nothing more than for you to help it flourish. “Please visit bowelbabe.org for all the info and to donate.“All I ask is if you ever read a column, followed.
