One of the judges, Daily Star Associate Editor Tom Hutchinson, said: "It's been an honour to be a part of the Game of the Year jury."We spent a long time debating the best games of 2021 and have come up with a brilliant shortlist of titles all worth buying.

"From phenomenal indies to remarkable freshness in the bigger-budget space, 2021 was a terrific year - and we really felt that on GAMINGBible, with our audience resonating with a wealth of original experiences."The shortlist spans a wide range of games from a variety of genres.Metroid Dread is the latest 2.5D instalment in the long-running sci-fi Metroid series, while Deathloop is a next-gen first-person shooter set in a terrifying time loop.It Takes Two is a hit co-op game by Hazelight Studios that sees clashing couple venture into a magical toy world.Meanwhile, indie games Unpacking, Chicory, and The Forgotten City were big hits on the Xbox Game Pass this year, which lets subscribers play around 100 games for free. .
