Baby fox mistaken for dead dog after collar found 'tied to tree' at former Scots coal mine

Scots coal mine has been solved. An animal rescue group has confirmed that the decaying remains discovered at the St Ninian’s opencast mine in Fife actually belong to a baby fox.

Fears were raised after a collar was found attached to a tree at the secluded spot by a concerned member of the public on Sunday.

They feared that the remains were that of a light brown coloured pooch who may have been wearing the Barkley and Fetch neckband.

Dana’s Angels Fife have since attended at the scene and confirmed the remains do not belong to a pet.They said: “Regarding the deceased animal at St Ninians opencast mine in Fife.
