A store that claimed to be the saviour of Ayr High Street has closed.The 1517 outlet promised to revolutionise the crumbling retail centre taking over the former BHS space in August 2019.But this week signs have been placed on the department store's shop front telling customers they are now closed.Signs on A4 paper have told customers that the shop is now shut down.
It is understood a number of staff have lost their jobs but it has not been confirmed how many.The store's Facebook page also reads “permanently closed” and the website has been removed.It is understood that staff have been clearing out stock.The store owned by Mercier Mainwaring was not without controversy throughout its tenure.Just months after opening Ayrshire Live revealed
