Naman Ramachandran U.K. outfit Blue Finch Films has snagged worldwide sales rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) to the buzzy animated feature “Lesbian Space Princess,” ahead of its world premiere in the Panorama section at next month’s Berlin Film Festival.

The debut feature from Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese follows a sheltered space princess who embarks on a galactic mission to rescue her bounty hunter ex-girlfriend from the Straight White Maliens.

The film, which blends sci-fi and comedy elements, puts queer women of color front and center in its narrative. Umbrella Entertainment has already locked down rights for Australia and New Zealand, with Blue Finch set to launch international sales at Berlin’s European Film Market.

The project emerged from FilmLab: New Voices, a South Australian film corporation and Adelaide Film Festival initiative backed by Screen Australia and aimed at supporting first-time feature filmmakers from South Australia.
