Asda shoppers will face paying a 30p charge for fruit and veg bags as the supermarket moves towards ditching plastic bags in some stores.

From September 7, some shoppers will have to pay for recyclable bags in plans to scrap plastic.The changes will take place in nine stores across the UK, where plastic bags will not be available for fresh food purchases.Shoppers can bring their own bags or make the payment.'Veggio' bags will be available which are made from recycled plastic water bottles.Stores in Bridgend, Glasshoughton, Harrogate, Killingbeck, Middleton, Quedgeley, Swansea and two in York are involved in the trial.
