Arsenal turned down the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seven years before they shelled out £56m to make him the club's most expensive ever signing in January 2018.
Arsene Wenger broke the club’s transfer record to sign the Gabon international just five months before he eventually stepped down as manager.
But the Frenchman already had his eye on Aubameyang as far back as 2011, when the striker was on loan at Monaco from AC Milan - and could have saved the club a huge amount had he decided to sign him then.
