Armed police swooped on streets near the centre of Oldham on Tuesday afternoon (August 15) following reports of a man 'with a gun'.
Officers attended the incident on Horsedge Street at around 3.30pm and closed off a number of roads, including nearby Yorkshire Street and Bailey Street with a police helicopter also circling the area overhead.
A witness at the scene told the M.E.N that there were a number of officers seen 'going in and out of an apartment' and reports from local residents police were 'guarding the entrance' to a building. Pictures taken on Tuesday show a number of police vehicles at the scene, including an unmarked police car, as officers remained stationed outside a nearby building for a number of hours.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, police said. One man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm or imitation firearm and another man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.
