Anneliese Dodds said it was only right that those with the “broadest shoulders” make a bigger contribution as she called on ministers to urgently step up their support for the faltering economy.
She warned that without an emergency budget to give the national finances a big boost the country faced job losses on a level not seen since the 1980s.
In an interview with the Mirror, the top Labour figure pledged to rebuild the party’s battered economic reputation as she takes on Chancellor Rishi Sunak in the months ahead.
