A group of parents claim a decision to refuse their children a free school bus pass, is ‘discrimination’ against their Catholic faith.The families, who live in Edgeley, have sent their children to St James Catholic High School, in Cheadle Hulme, to begin their secondary education.But, due to a change in policy, they are not eligible for free bus passes as there is an alternative school within three miles walking distance.Stockport council says it has taken the ‘difficult decision’ to withdraw free bus passes for faith school pupils in the face of huge financial pressures.The new rules came into effect from September and only apply to those now beginning Year 7 - although there are exemptions for children from low income families.But angry.
