Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Andy Halliday will leave Rangers when his contract expires at the end of May as he leads an Ibrox exodus. The midfielder's current deal runs out in less than a fortnight and he will now say goodbye to his boyhood club.He will join Jon Flanagan, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt and backup keepers Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick in heading for the exit as Rangers announced the trio's exit on Tuesday.Despite an initial Ibrox career revival under Steven Gerrard, Halliday has gradually become a fringe figure and understands he's keen to secure more time on the pitch elsewhere. The 28-year-old midfielder was mainly deployed at left-back by Gerrard but the continued rise of Borna Barisic limited his minutes.Get all the latest Rangers news sent straight
