US diner chain Wendy's is returning to the UK, 21 years after closing its doors on the high street. The popular chain, which shut its last remaining British branch in 1999, is making a comeback, with the first store to open in Reading in the coming months.
Known for its square burgers, Wendy's said two new branches will open up in the first half of this year - with more set to follow.
The first will be in Reading, followed by Oxford, with the company "exploring additional opportunities" in London. The restaurant is actively looking for people to become franchise owners - these are essentially tenants that can run the restaurants on the high street.
