The chief executive of the London Ambulance Service said he was "devastated" after losing three colleagues to coronavirus. One of the victims was Ian Reynolds, who worked as a paramedic for 32 years.
The two other workers were Gordon Ballard and Melonie Mitchell - both of whom did not work in frontline roles, it has been said.
Garrett Emmerson told LBC radio: “The fact that none of these colleagues were working in direct contact with patients sadly illustrates the indiscriminate and lethal nature of this virus. “They were all making fantastic individual contributions to the huge life-saving effort that the organisation has been making at this time.
