Online behemoth Amazon is preparing to open 10 convenience stores in the UK, selling items such as tech and food, without any checkouts.
The first outlet is expected to open in London before the end of the year, with Notting Hill mooted as the possible flagship.
The stores, which will be completely contact-free, will use scanning technology to record people's purchases on the go. It will then bill them via their Amazon account when they leave.
The Sunday Times said Amazon is also in talks to open a further 20 more stores but that discussions are still ongoing. It said Amazon is targeting transport hubs, so it can attract busy commuters who need to pick up items on the go.
