Amanda Gorman is arriving in style! The 23-year-old poet hit the carpet at the 2021 Met Gala on Monday (September 13) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
She wore a bright blue dress embellished with crystals as well a silver crown of laurels, telling red carpet host Keke Palmer that her look was inspired by the Statue of Liberty.
Her purse features a quote the Emma Lazarus poem inscribed on the statue. Amanda is co-chairing the event alongside Naomi Osaka, Timothee Chalamet and Billie Eilish.
The annual Costume Institute Gala is the fashion world’s equivalent of the Oscars and the event is usually held on the first Monday of May, but it was postponed until September 2021 due to the pandemic.
