Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. Trump was born and raised in the New York City borough of Queens, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan.
The company built or renovated skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump later started various side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. After Tom’s death in 2007, Chris was inspired to learn more about his friend’s life and his role as Indonesia declared independence from the Netherlands following a conversation with Rene.Hours of painstaking research by Chris included interviews with Rene and with Tom’s friends as well as reading through a mountain of letters sent by Tom and audio tapes he had kept.The end result details Tom and Rene’s lives from their involvement in the war effort in the RAF and WAAF, their first meeting onboard the MS Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, their time in Indonesia as Tom set up the Indonesian Information Bulletin and wrote speeches for President Sukarno and their life after retirement in Alloway.Speaking to Ayrshire Live, Chris said: “Tom Atkinson enabled Indonesia to gain its Independence from the Dutch in the 1940s and he went on to write all the speeches given in English by Indonesian President Sukarno for over a decade.“Tom was born in Consett in August 1922.
