Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Neil Lennon has lost his Celtic "alibi" with the impending departure of Peter Lawwell. The club chief-executive announced last week he is set to retire this summer after 17 years at the helm.Lawwell has backed Lennon in the face of fierce calls for his sacking this season and Stubbs has a theory as to why the board haven't dismissed the manager.

He suspects Lawwell will be reluctant to end his professional relationship with Lennon on a sour note and has therefore opted not to sack him.But Stubbs, a former Celtic centre-back, reckons the CEO's exit will leave Lennon "even more vulnerable".

He told Go Radio : "From now until the end of the season, no matter what results Celtic get, it's about looking at the bigger picture.
