Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Ben Davies decided to snub Celtic at the last minutes due to a clause inserted in his pre-contract agreement.Neil Lennon's side were in pole position going into the final days of the window according to the Sunday Mirror, with the Preston defender set for a switch to Glasgow's east end on July 1 with his Deepdale deal ending in the summer.However, they report that Celtic inserted a clause requiring the 25-year-old to be injury-free and fit to play when reporting for duty which sparked the collapse of the deal.It is claimed that the clause made Davies 'waver' on his decision before Liverpool swooped for the centre-back in a £1.6million move.Lennon claimed on deadline day that Liverpool had stepped in to "gazump" the Premiership champions in.
