Naman Ramachandran BAFTA has tapped multi-hyphenate talent Alan Cumming to host the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards. Cumming’s decorated career spans stage and screen, from his Tony and Olivier award-winning turn in “Cabaret” to his Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-recognized performance in “The Good Wife,” where he also served as an executive producer.

Television audiences worldwide have more recently embraced his charismatic hosting style on “The Traitors U.S.,” which has earned him two Emmy Awards and two Critics Choice trophies. “We’re delighted that Alan Cumming will be hosting this year’s BAFTA Television Awards,” said Emma Baehr, executive director of awards and content at BAFTA. “He will definitely bring a playful sense of mischief and fun to the ceremony, so audiences should expect the unexpected at Britain’s biggest celebration of TV.” The announcement kicks off the countdown to the ceremony, with nominations for all 49 competitive categories across the BAFTA Television Awards and BAFTA Television Craft Awards set to be unveiled this Thursday.

The awards will have new children’s television categories, which feature an extended eligibility window as previously announced last September.

Last year’s ceremony delivered strong viewership with an average audience of 2.7 million across BBC One and iPlayer, while social media coverage generated over 7 million views.
