Staff at an animal rescue centre have been left heartbroken by a handwritten note attached to the collar of an abandoned dog found tied to a tree by her owner.
The dog named Roadie was spotted and taken into the care of the Johnson County Animal Shelter after the note explained why her owner felt like he was forced to give her up.
It said that Roadie's dad had lost his job and "soon his home" as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and begged for someone to give the pet a new family.
