Kelly, who runs the Norfolk Arms in Marple Bridge, Stockport, was fined £1,000 by Greater Manchester Police, who said she'd been serving customers in defiance of Tier 4 rules.

Under the tight Covid-19 restrictions, hospitality venues such as bars, pubs and restaurants, must close with the exception of providing food and drink for takeaway until 11pm.Kelly's pub had been serving festive food and drink such as mince pies and mulled wine via the pub's Covid-safe hatch.

She told the Manchester Evening News this is exactly what staff had been doing when officers from GMP arrived at her premises on.
