A police officer is in hospital undergoing surgery after being injured while making an arrest in Manchester city centre. The officer was seriously injured while detaining a male for theft on Market Street on Friday, Greater Manchester Police said.
The extent of his injuries have not been revealed. His colleagues in the GMP city centre team have thanked NHS staff for taking care of him during the coronavirus pandemic.
