Phoebe Violet has always dreamt of one day walking the catwalk but never in her wildest dreams did she think a Chanel runway would appear on her street.
That has become a reality this week, hoever, with the global fashion brand bringing its annual Métiers d’Art show to Manchester and turning Thomas Street, in the Northern Quarter, the very street where Phoebe lives, into an outdoor catwalk.
The courtyard outside Phoebe's home, which she considers her ‘back garden’, has also been taken over by the fashion powerhouse and is rumoured to be the location of the backstage area for the show taking place today (Thursday).
On Chanel’s arrival, Phoebe said: “It’s inspiring because I want to be a fashion designer and a model.” The glitzy event has previously been held in Paris,Tokyo, New York and Rome and took place in Dakar in Senegal last year.
