A football club has suspended one of its strikers over a reported post on social media on Christmas Day. Oldham Athletic FC, of the National League, announced the news concerning player Alex Reid in a statement issued on Boxing Day - just hours before their game at Hartlepool United.

No further details have been revealed, but according to reports the now deleted post involved a video of a Christmas Day training session and picked up comments made by players.
