Woman injured after car crashed into tree causing it to fall on Lanarkshire road

A woman has been injured after her car smashed into a tree on a Lanarkshire road. The crash happened around 7.40pm last night (Wednesday) forcing the B743 near to Murkirk Road in Strathaven to close for several hours.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old woman, is said to have suffered minor injuries in the collision.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland told Lanarkshire Live : “Police attended a report of a car having crashed into a tree on the B743 near to Muirkirk Road, Strathaven. “The 33-year-old female driver sustained minor injuries.“The local council was informed regarding the tree that was blocking the road.”The council's roads department posted on social media last night after the crash took place to alert motorists that road was forced to shut.It read: "The B743 Muirkirk Road is closed south of Strathaven at Gainerhill Farm due to falling trees and an accident."They further advised shortly after 6.30am this morning
