Detectives have arrested two people on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Bury. Paramedics first descended on the scene on Harrison Street in Ramsbottom over 'reports of concern for the welfare of a woman' at around 4.20am yesterday morning (November 26).
Police officers were then alerted. Tragically, the woman - aged in her 70s - was pronounced dead at the property. A man and a woman - both aged in their 30s - was arrested on suspicion of murder. The woman's next of kin has been informed, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said. They are being supported by specialist officers.
A Home Office post-mortem is set to be carried out 'to establish the exact circumstances of her death'. Police said patrols have been stepped up in the area as a scene remains in place on the residential street.
