The body of a man was found today in the water on a stretch of the River Roch. Police and specialist firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were pictured at the scene in the Roch Valley area of Heywood from Saturday morning, with cordons still in place.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers were called to the scene at around 11am. Sadly, the force then confirmed the discovery.
No identity has been confirmed, but the force said in a statement the man's death wasn't believed to be suspicious. Investigations are continuing.
