Flood warnings are expected to be issued in Greater Manchester as wet weather covers the country. The Environment Agency has already put four flood alerts in place in the region, and has advised residents further flood 'warnings' are expected throughout the evening.

One alert covering the River Mersey and associated tributaries warns of rising water levels overnight which 'may lead to flooding'.

It comes after a Met Office yellow weather warning for rain which covers the whole of Greater Manchester. In a tweet, the Environment Agency wrote: "Further #flood warnings to go alongside widespread flood alerts are expected this evening #NYE2025, particularly in #GreaterManchester." They have also asked people not to walk or drive through flood water and to 'stay safe if you're out partying'.

Flooding is possible particularly around low lying land and roads around Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton brooks and their tributaries, according to the Environment Agency.
