Hospital workers are understood to have gone to the cops after eliminating food poisoning or stomach flu as possible causes of the elderly patient's illness.Their suspicions were first raised after his health was noticed to improve when visits were banned, but would deteriorate when people were allowed back in again.

One of the man's daughters is also reported to have unexpectedly discovered that his bank account had been emptied and put in a negative balance.An arrest was made after detectives investigating his mysterious death say they found several receipts showing purchases of constipation medicine.

The woman is also reported to have prevented other family members and friends from visiting during open times after falsely claiming that Covid restrictions were still in place.In addition to charges related to his death, his girlfriend is also being investigated on suspicion on the crimes of misappropriation and fraud.Laxative abuse can cause serious heart and liver problems, according to the Food and Drug Administration in the United States.
