A 74-year-old woman pedestrian has died in a hit-and-run collision with a van. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident in Newton Heath, Manchester, which took place at about 9.15am on Saturday.
It is believed the driver of the Mercedes van involved and a passenger made off from the scene. A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He currently remains in police custody. The woman's family are being supported by specialist officers, said Greater Manchester Police.
