Long before the Year of WFH, the sales assistant in The Simpsons pointed out the many popular alternatives to a constricting waistband: “ponchos, muumuus, capes, jumpsuits, academic and judicial robes…”.
Opting for a voluminous pink and blue floral-print gown (ahem), Homer replies: “I don’t want to look like a weirdo. I’ll just go with the muumuu.”The muumuu (also muu-muu) is a long, loose-fitting, often patterned dress.
