Manchester City and Manchester United have already earned millions from the Champions League before kicking a ball. Pep Guardiola’s side rejoiced in Istanbul as City finally got their hands on the famous trophy last season and completed their treble.
The Blues have been drawn with RB Leipzig, Crvena Zvezda and Young Boys in Group G and will be aiming to defend the trophy. United are scheduled to travel to Bayern Munich on Wednesday as their group stage campaign begins.
Erik ten Hag’s side will hope to make up for lost time after spending last season in the Europa League and have been drawn with Bayern, Copenhagen and Galatasaray in Group A.
Both sides will be confident of making it through to the knockout stages but have already banked €15.64m (£13.46m) just for being part of the group stages.
