The story of Hollywood actress Grace Kelly marrying a real-life Prince Charming, Prince Rainier of Monaco, on 19th April 1956 was the ultimate royal fashion fairy tale.
And more than six decades later, her incredible wedding dress looks as modern as it did at the time. Grace Kelly had two wedding outfits for her civil and religious ceremonies, which were both gifts from her film studios MGM and were created by the head costume designer, Helen Rose, in the studio's atelier.
Rose had created Kelly's costumes for a number of her most-loved films, including High Society and The Swan. The gown she wore to the religious ceremony took 30 seamstresses at the studio six weeks to make and had a high collar, elegant lace sleeves and a full skirt.
