The dress/nightie hybrid is a wardrobe solution for lockdown and beyond FaceTime; last Tuesday afternoon; my mother. I was midway through another story about lockdown with kids (genre: horror) when she leaned closer to her phone camera and, peering across time and space, said: “That’s a pretty… what are you wearing, a nightgown?” Well, yes.
But no. But sort of? By now we all know the importance of getting dressed every day, even with nowhere to go beyond our back gardens.
Just how we define “getting dressed”, however, varies person to person. The outfits I’m reaching for most often these days don’t involve tracksuits or leggings, but nightgowns.
