Manchester United will be forced to pay Swansea £1million if Daniel James plays more than 20 minutes in a game for the club.
The Wales international moved to Old Trafford from the Championship side in a £15m move last summer, and he impressed at times.
According to The Athletic , part of the transfer deal included an add-on clause that would see the Red Devils pay another £1m if James made 40 appearances for his new club.
However, one appearance would only count if the winger played for more than 20 minutes in one particular game. James played 46 times for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in all competitions last season, but only 39 of those appearances were for a minimum of 20 minutes.
