Keep reading to find out more… A political science professor at Georgetown University, Hans Noel, explained to US News that it can take days or longer, if it’s a very close race or if there’s a recount needed. “If it’s very close then you need to make sure that it goes down to the end, and maybe there’s a recount and all of that mechanical stuff that takes time – days, maybe even longer,” Professor Noel told US News. “If things are close in any of these states, it’s likely that some kind of legal challenge gets raised about the outcome.
