The World Darts Championship starts at Alexandra Palace on Sunday night - but Luke Littler faces an almost week-long wait before beginning the event.
It has been a memorable year of darts, with the two Lukes – Humphries and Littler – dominating the oche. They began the year with an unforgettable Ally Pally final, in which Humphries won 7-4 over the then 16-year-old prodigy.
Littler responded by winning the Premier League final. Then, after a few early exits in tournaments, won a first major ranking title with an exceptional display of throwing at last month's Grand Slam of Darts.
Now ranked fourth in the world, Littler is the bookies' favourite to lift the Sid Waddell in the new year, just ahead of world number one Humphries.
