Boris Johnson will update Brits today on new coronavirus rules in the run-up to Christmas. Amid the excitement of the Oxford University vaccine being between 70% and 90% effective - a jab that’s cheaper and easier to store than Pfizer’s version - rules will still need to be followed in the weeks leading up to December 25.

England will once again return to the tiered lockdown system on December 2 after four weeks of national lockdown, but this time more areas are expected to be in higher tiers which in turn are expected to have tougher restrictions.

In return, coronavirus rules are due to be briefly relaxed over Christmas, but those details are not expected until Tuesday.
