McKinley Franklin editor Jessie Maple, who broke barriers for Black women in entertainment and news as both a cinematographer and director, died on Tuesday in Atlanta. She was 76. Maple’s family released a statement confirming her death via the Black Film Center & Archive.  Maple was recognized as the first Black woman to be admitted into the International Photographers of Motion Picture & Television Union in the ‘70s. Her career as a trailblazing cinematographer led her move into directing, making the 1981 independent feature film “Will.” Maple was said to be the first Black woman to direct an independent feature-length film in a post-civil rights America.

Before his recent role, Stevenson served as the senior VP of state government affairs for 25 years, where he attended to and managed MPA members’ interests on a national scale, as well as Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam. “I looked forward to going to work every day to improve, protect and defend the production, distribution and business practices of our member companies,” Stevenson said. “As I begin the next chapter of my career, I want to thank MPA CEO and chairman Charlie Rivkin for his leadership during my time at the association.”

However, the majority of that increase was driven by white people who were eligible for PrEP due to their sexual behavior, 78% of whom were written a prescription for the daily medicine in 2021, compared to only 11% of eligible Black people and 20.5% of eligible Latinos.The CDC estimates that about 1.2 million people in the United States have HIV, but about 1 in 8 are unaware of their status, usually due to reticence around getting tested or lack of access to health care services.Awareness of one’s status is especially low among young people, who represented about 15% of total new infections in 2021, reports CNN.

The jury in the rape trial of Danny Masterson has rendered a verdict, finding the “That ’70s Show” alum to be guilty on two counts of forcible rape.

Former That '70s Show star Danny Masterson has been convicted on two counts of forcible rape.The actor was convicted on Wednesday and faces a potential prison sentence of 30 years to life on the two charges. A verdict was not reached by the jury on a third rape charge.The Masterson family, who were seated in the audience in court, were reportedly shocked to hear the guilty verdicts. Actor Danny was accused of raping three women between 2001 and 2003 at his Hollywood Hills home.
