By David Robb Labor Editor The WGA and the AMPTP continue to move closer to a May 11 start date for negotiations for a new film and TV contract, and for an extension of their current pact from May 1 to June 30.
The negotiations had been set to begin on March 23, but were delayed because of the industry’s COVID-19 shutdown. One outstanding issue remains, however, until the guild and the AMPTP are in full agreement on the start of the negotiations: the WGA’s proposal that “as a further means of addressing the immediate impact of the pandemic,” the labor and management trustees of the Health Fund must adopt, on or before April 24, “an amendment to the plan extending eligibility to plan participants who will lose coverage through the end of
