With Covid still making foreign travel troublesome, UK family breaks seem likely to be the easiest option for some time to come.

But with so many options on places to visit it's sometimes hard to know where to start. We took our five and seven-year-old to Manchester for the weekend and had such an amazing time we're already planning a return visit.

With great transport links, plenty of places to visit whatever the weather and access to the coast relatively quickly too if you do want to explore further afield, Manchester is an ideal spot for a short break.
