Manchester United supporters are backing highly-rated teenager Kobbie Mainoo to be involved in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford after the fit-again midfielder was omitted from the Premier League 2 squad for a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Friday night.
Mainoo, who had picked up an ankle injury in pre-season, stepped up his comeback with an appearance for United in their UEFA Youth League defeat to FC Copenhagen on Tuesday afternoon.
The 18-year-old played for 45 minutes in what was his first competitive game this campaign. However, with treble-winning neighbours Manchester City now on the horizon, United resisted the temptation to hand Mainoo further minutes for the next generation.
So does that mean the Academy graduate is being pencilled in for involvement on Sunday afternoon?
