Zack Sharf Digital News Director Viola Davis is an EGOT winner and is widely considered one of the greatest dramatic actors of her generation, which is why some people are confused about “G20.” The straight-to-streaming Prime Video movie casts Davis in a “White House Down”-style action movie.

She plays a U.S. president who becomes the target of an attack during the eponymous world leaders summit. But this president knows how to be an action star and can save herself.

Move over, Secret Service. Speaking to The Times of London, Davis defended her choice to star in a shoot-em-up action movie despite her award-winning bonafides.

As she simply put it: “I don’t think every movie you do has to be considered for an Academy Award. I wanted to do something that families could watch together, something popular.” Davis was the first Black woman to win the Emmy for leading actress in a drama series, which she did thanks to her performance on the ABC series “How to Get Away With Murder.” She has four Oscar nominations under her belt and one win (supporting actress for her role in “Fences).
